All the power that resides inside each individual – latent or harnessed is called people power. It is of four types viz

physical , mental , emotional and spiritual. Let us look at each of them
 
Physical Power : which is well known , has been  focused  for centuries and is expresses in multiple ways :
1.1     Hand
 
1.2     Legs
 
1.3     Eyes
 
1.4     Other 4 senses
 
1.5     Overall Health
 
1.6     Height
 
1.7     Smart
 
Each of them has been scientifically researched for over 100 years and are still part of evaluation/selection for most of jobs
 
 2.    Mental Power : It is again of three  types
 
2.1     Functional Competencies  :
 
 Most widely practiced and harnessed. Most careers are built around it
 
and people prefer to be identified with a function; it gives them a social identity,
 
helps to earn a living and move from one job to another
 
2.2     Behavioral Competencies :
 
These competencies have been distilled by observing successful managers. There are over 180 of them, the well
 
known ones are leadership, teamwork, envisioning,
 
planning  , analysis , execution , communication , language , adventuresome , strategizing , etc .
 
Most business organizations are aggressively   focusing on them to remain in the forefront
 
2.3     Use of  Management Tools :
 
This covers application of management  tools like lean , six sigma ,  ABC-VED Analysis , use of computer , Kaizen ,
 
TQM, IE ,TPM ,VA/VE Analysis . Again these have been there for more than three decades and organizations are
 
selectively adopting them as competition builds up
 
  3 . Emotional Power : Little understood , talked over and over
 
       Passion, ownership, caring, compassion, love, bonding, friendship, sharing, touch, praise ,paternalistic style of
 
 managing  are different facets of emotional power and are being increasing dissected and applied to  attract and retain
 
 people
 
  4.  Spiritual Power  :  Each person is in this world is  with a purpose and  and helping him to identify and  realize  the
 
purpose of his life is the loftiest way to retain talent and get the best out of him for the business is still the least
 
understood power inside people . But it is seen in the greatest achievers of the world in almost all fields. As of now it is
 
proven it exists, it makes a difference and has a significant role to play in reaching new heights/ breaking records and
 
barriers.
 
Our consulting practice indicates that each of these  four latent  powers is harnessed only 1 to 20 percent by an
 
individual for his growth/building his career  . Further the business organistions have not harnessed more than 20 %
 
( estimates of experts/our consultants ) of the individual which can be effectively directed , deployed and embedded
 
into business processes  for business  growth and  enhancing business competitiveness   . We are working to develop  a
 
quantitative model linking all these parameters .
