PROCESS 1.The smallest unit in a business which has almost all the characteristics of a business is " Process Unit ". 2. The Process Unit , at macro level , is made of 5 components - COPIS C-Customer , O- Output , P- Process , I - Input and finally S- Supplier 3. When P-Process is examined at micro level , it has 7 sub - components P1. Machine P2. People P3 IT P4 Policies / constraints /capacity P5 Energy P6 Environment P7 Tools 4. Similarly "O" has two subcomponents O.1 When seen from process (P) side it has " properties " O.2 When seen from customerside (P) it is a set of " values " 5. The ownership of this process is with a team of 5 to 15 6. True Team If a team has following features: - knows the goal precisely , - knows policies precisely , - processes and inputs are within its ambit fully - takes decision as per demand /situation - handles normal situations as well as exceptions - self sufficient in terms of all functionals skill required - has realtime feedback , - has flexi formation , - set their own targets ( take help from Coach ) , - define their own priorities - all members have complete visibility of process - performance is tracked in real time , - coaches train outside the field , - rewards are decided everday , - records are recognised each time , - team is provided all support for low value activities outsourced , - team can connect with experts across the globe , - team is aware of all benchmarks / records elsewhere - they are trained to use tools for continous improvements - team is recognised for achievements , - strategist create new winning game plans , - players are selected purely on merit , - developed to be allrounder but be super in core function , - members are emotionally connected , - memebers share succes and failure , it can reach unprecedented heights. That is "True Team" owning a "Process Unit "
