Check box based templates have been the new age tool for monitoring compliance to processes and policies .
They have failed to deliver results and have often resulted in disastrous consequences threatening the
existence of business
The checklist, as conceived originally by its proponents , is supposed to be gentle / timely/precise reminder
so that an individual does not forget the steps /actions . However many people use it as short- cut to
" stating they have complied" without "actually complying in letter , spirit and action "
Fundamental to introduction of checklist is the desire to do what is right as demanded by the process/policy .
The checklist is of great help till the
policies and processes have not been internalised /become habits
